What is Split?
Split is a simple money app with one job: every payday, it shows you exactly how to divide your check across bills, savings, and investing, so your money has a plan before it disappears. Set it up once, and every payday after that takes about a minute.
Is Split free?
Yes, the core app is free. Split Premium unlocks extra features for $8/month or $79/year. During early access, invited members get Premium free.
Do I have to connect my bank?
Nope. Split works fully with numbers you type in yourself. Connecting accounts is optional, and it just makes your balances update automatically.
Is it safe to connect my accounts?
Yes. Connections are handled by Plaid, the same service used by apps like Venmo. Everything is read only, which means Split can see the balances you choose to share, but we can't move money, make changes to your accounts, or see your login credentials.
Can Split move or spend my money?
No. Split is a planning and tracking tool, not a bank. It never holds, moves, or invests your money. You see the plan, and you make the moves.
Which banks and accounts work?
Thousands of banks and credit unions work through Plaid, including checking, savings, credit cards, loans, and most investment accounts. A few institutions limit what they share with any app. Robinhood currently doesn't allow apps like Split to read account data, and some crypto platforms are the same way. For those, just enter your balance manually. It takes about ten seconds.

Enter your crypto total manually for now and update it whenever you like. Automatic crypto tracking is on our roadmap.
I don't get paid every two weeks. Does Split still work?
Yes. Split supports weekly, biweekly, semi-monthly, and monthly pay, and if your income is irregular, you can log each check as it arrives. Split builds the plan around what actually came in.
Does Split tell me what to invest in?
No. Split shows you a plan for your paycheck and estimates for your future based on the numbers you enter, but it doesn't pick investments or give personalized financial advice. Those calls are yours, and the big ones deserve a professional.
How do I put Split on my phone?
Open splitmoney.app in your phone's browser, then tap Share and choose Add to Home Screen. Split installs like a regular app, no app store needed.
How do I cancel Premium?
Anytime, in Settings under Manage subscription. You keep Premium through the period you've already paid for. No hoops.
How do I delete my data?
Email support@splitmoney.app from your account email and we'll delete your account and its data. You can also disconnect any linked account in the app instantly.
