Split

Terms of Service

Effective July 6, 2026 · Last updated July 23, 2026
The short version

Welcome to Split. These Terms of Service ("Terms") are an agreement between you and Split Technologies LLC, a California limited liability company ("Split," "we," "us," or "our"), and they govern your use of the Split app and website at splitmoney.app and splitmoneyapp.netlify.app, along with any future Split domains and mobile apps (together, the "Service").

Please read these Terms carefully. By creating an account or using the Service, you agree to these Terms and to our Privacy Policy. If you don't agree, please don't use the Service.

1. What Split is — and what it isn't

Split is a personal finance tool that helps you plan and track your money. You enter details like your income, bills, and balances, and Split organizes them — splitting your paycheck across categories, tracking your net worth, and showing projections about your financial future.

Split is a money-organizing tool. It is not a bank, credit union, broker-dealer, investment adviser, tax preparer, or financial planner. Specifically:

  • We never hold, move, or invest your money. Split does not take custody of funds, make transfers or payments, or buy or sell any investment on your behalf.
  • We don't give individualized advice. Split provides general educational tools and estimates. It does not provide personalized financial, investment, legal, accounting, or tax advice, and nothing in the Service is a recommendation to buy, sell, or hold any specific investment or product.
  • You make your own decisions. Any action you take with your money based on what you see in Split is your own decision. For advice tailored to your situation, please consult a qualified professional.

2. Projections and estimates

The splits, net worth figures, retirement numbers, and future projections that Split shows are estimates. They're generated from the information you enter and from general assumptions and historical averages built into the app.

  • Estimates are for informational and educational purposes only.
  • They are not guarantees of future results. Real-world outcomes depend on many factors outside Split's control — markets, interest rates, your actual spending, and life itself.
  • Investing involves risk, including the possible loss of money you invest. Past performance does not guarantee future results.

3. Who can use Split

You must be at least 18 years old and able to form a binding contract to use the Service. By using Split, you confirm that you meet these requirements and that the information you provide about yourself is accurate. Split is intended for personal, non-commercial use.

4. Your account

  • Keep it secure. You're responsible for your account and for keeping your login credentials confidential. Don't share your account, and let us know promptly if you believe someone has accessed it without permission.
  • Keep it accurate. The more accurate the information you enter, the more useful Split will be. You're responsible for the information you put in.
  • You're responsible for activity on your account. Activity that happens through your account is your responsibility, except to the extent caused by our own failure to provide reasonable security.

5. Split Premium and billing

Split offers a free tier and an optional paid subscription, "Split Premium," which unlocks additional features. Payments are processed by Stripe, Inc. ("Stripe"); Split does not collect or store your card numbers.

Plans and pricing

  • Premium is offered as a monthly plan ($8/month) or an annual plan ($79/year). Current pricing is always shown in the app before you subscribe.
  • Applicable taxes may be added where required.

Automatic renewal

  • Your subscription renews automatically. At the end of each billing period (each month for monthly plans, each year for annual plans), your plan renews and your payment method is charged at the then-current price, until you cancel.
  • We'll only charge you the amounts disclosed to you at signup, unless we've notified you of a price change in advance (see below).

Canceling

  • You can cancel anytime. When you cancel, your subscription stops renewing, and you keep Premium access through the end of the billing period you've already paid for.
  • To cancel, use the cancellation option in the app or email us at support@splitmoney.app.

Refunds and price changes

  • Except where required by law, payments are non-refundable, and we don't provide refunds or credits for partial billing periods. If you believe you were charged in error, email us and we'll look into it in good faith.
  • We may change subscription pricing from time to time. If we change the price of a plan you're on, we'll give you advance notice, and any change will apply to your next billing period — never retroactively. If you don't agree to a new price, you can cancel before it takes effect.
Stripe's handling of your payment information is governed by Stripe's own terms and privacy policy at stripe.com/legal.

6. Bank connections (optional)

Split may offer an optional feature to securely connect your financial accounts through our partner Plaid Inc. ("Plaid"), so balances can update automatically.

  • This feature is optional — you choose whether to connect an account, and you can disconnect anytime.
  • The connection is read-only. Split reads information like your account names and balances to display and organize them — it does not move money, make transfers, or place trades. We do not pull your transaction history.
  • Split never receives or stores your bank login credentials. Those are handled directly by Plaid.
  • Your use of Plaid is also subject to Plaid's terms and privacy policy.

7. Acceptable use

When using Split, you agree not to:

  • Use the Service for anything unlawful, fraudulent, or harmful;
  • Try to access accounts, data, or systems that aren't yours;
  • Interfere with, disrupt, or attempt to break the security of the Service;
  • Reverse-engineer, copy, scrape, or resell the Service or its content, except where the law expressly allows it;
  • Use automated means to access the Service in a way that burdens our systems; or
  • Misuse the Service in any way not reasonably intended by these Terms.

We may suspend or limit access to protect the Service, our users, or Split if we reasonably believe these rules are being broken.

8. Our intellectual property

The Service — including its software, design, logo, "Split" name and branding, text, and graphics — is owned by Split Technologies LLC and protected by intellectual property laws. We grant you a limited, personal, non-exclusive, non-transferable, revocable license to use the Service for your own personal money management, subject to these Terms. We reserve all rights not expressly granted.

9. Your information

The financial details and preferences you enter remain yours. You grant us permission to store and process that information solely to operate and provide the Service to you, as described in our Privacy Policy. We don't sell your personal information, and we don't share your financial information with advertisers. How we collect, use, and protect your information is explained in full in the Privacy Policy, which is part of these Terms.

10. Third-party services

Split relies on trusted third-party services to operate — including Supabase (database and sign-in), Stripe (payments), Plaid (optional bank connections), Google (sign-in), Netlify and Cloudflare (hosting and delivery), Resend (account emails), and Sentry (error monitoring). Your use of features that depend on these providers may also be subject to their terms, and we're not responsible for their services. We encourage you to review their policies.

11. Disclaimer of warranties

We work hard to make Split useful and reliable, but the Service is provided "as is" and "as available," without warranties of any kind, whether express or implied, including implied warranties of merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, and non-infringement, to the fullest extent permitted by law.

We don't warrant that the Service will be uninterrupted, error-free, or completely secure, or that any estimate, projection, or figure it shows will be accurate or achievable. You use the Service, and make financial decisions, at your own discretion and risk.

12. Limitation of liability

To the fullest extent permitted by law, Split Technologies LLC and its owner will not be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages, or for any lost profits, lost savings, or financial losses, arising out of or related to your use of (or inability to use) the Service — including any decisions you make based on information or projections shown in the Service.

To the fullest extent permitted by law, our total liability for any claim relating to the Service is limited to the greater of the amount you paid us for the Service in the twelve months before the claim, or one hundred U.S. dollars ($100).

Some jurisdictions don't allow certain limitations, so some of the above may not apply to you. Nothing in these Terms limits any rights you have that can't be limited by law.

13. Indemnification

You agree to indemnify and hold harmless Split Technologies LLC and its owner from claims, losses, and reasonable expenses arising out of your misuse of the Service or your violation of these Terms or of applicable law. This doesn't apply to the extent a claim results from our own wrongdoing.

14. Suspension and termination

You can stop using Split and delete your account at any time. We may suspend or terminate your access if you materially violate these Terms, if required by law, or if we reasonably need to in order to protect the Service or other users. If we terminate your account without cause while you're on a paid plan, we'll refund any prepaid amount covering the period after termination. Sections of these Terms that by their nature should survive — such as intellectual property, disclaimers, limitation of liability, and indemnification — will survive termination.

15. Changes to the Service and these Terms

We're actively building Split, so features may change, launch, or be discontinued over time. We may also update these Terms from time to time. When we make material changes, we'll update the "Last updated" date above and, where appropriate, notify you within the Service. Continued use after changes take effect means you accept the updated Terms. If you don't agree to a change, please stop using the Service.

16. Governing law and disputes

These Terms are governed by the laws of the State of California, without regard to its conflict-of-laws rules. The federal and state courts located in California will have jurisdiction over any dispute that isn't otherwise resolved, and you and Split consent to that jurisdiction and venue.

Let's talk first. If you ever have a problem, please email us at support@splitmoney.app before filing anything. Most issues can be resolved quickly and directly, and we genuinely want to make things right.
